Lace Jewelry!

Have you ever had the need to step away from a project or a group of projects to do something completely different, just for some fun? Well, I experienced that last night. I have had a couple of issues with resin (on coasters and trays) that made me just want to throw it out the window! Instead of doing that, I decided to take a break from it for a night or so and do a fun project just to see what it could become.

I had seen these cute earrings made from lace (which I have been wanting to play around with for a while) and they were ombred ….not a word, but you know what I mean 🙂

I glanced through the instructions and saw nothing intense that would give me stress….so I rounded up the supplies (and had to go buy the jewelry essentials)

And, last night, I sat down to make my own pair! I have no prior jewelry experience other than creating bead necklaces and twisting them together! But this was pretty easy….and I think they turned out great! I would definitely use more colors next time, but black was good for a classy, elegant look (plus it was the only dye I had in my supplies!)

About shadedlinescreations

I have been interested in the arts for longer than I can remember. I can’t dance, I can’t sing….so that just left creating something tangible and aesthetically pleasing. Having a bachelor’s in graphic communications, I’ve worked as a graphic designer or creative director for the past 10 years. I have now decided to branch out and embrace 3D design…something in college I completely didn’t understand and hated going to the class! However, rather than covering chairs in crayons or fabricating statues out of cardboard, I have chosen to create items that can be used and treasured for years to come. Each tile, coaster or piece that you see in the gallery or on my etsy store has been customized, and can even feature your own personal images if you so desire. So look around, get some ideas and let me take them to the next level by actually making them for you!

hey, the ombreising (also not a word, but i’m sure you also know what i mean) worked out really well! have you done some work on your blog too? it looks… prettier.
    :0)

    • Lol! Thanks! I wasn’t really sure how to ombre…so glad it did turn out well 🙂 and I haven’t done anything that I can think of….just my pics and posts (sporadically!) Thanks for noticing tho!!

Very nice! Super cool idea that I’ve never seen before, plus I love the way you did a gradation of color rather than a solid. One idea you might add to this is multiple colors with something like fabric markers or inks. You could get some great effects with some trendy colors and such. Also, putting a bead at the top then having the chandelier part of the earring as the lace would be cool.

    • Yea I really like the ombre part of it. It’s a trend that I wasn’t sure about but now kinda like it. As I get better with the whole jewelry thing I am sure I will start adding embellishments…just have to figure it all out first. Thanks for the suggestions! I am sure I will try some of those in the future:)

The best advice I have for making jewelry is to just practice. I originally made tons of pieces for myself before I decided that I might try to start selling. There are a lot of great bead options out there. I also learned some tricks from buying a little kit and making the earrings in the kit.

      • Thanks! I have been eying those…but then that takes the uniqueness out of it…might make some for gifts just to get some techniques down. Thanks for the advice!
