Layering resin

The mini vacay was wonderful! I came back to a custom request in my shop and then sold another necklace last night! Such a wonderful way to return back to “normal” life. I am adding more listing to the Shaded Lines Etsy store, too 🙂

But the mini vacay also gave me inspiration for new projects and to tackle one that I had been putting off. Ever since my half fail with the resined crab, I have been hesitant to do anything else with it other than normal coaster/trivet making. I have decided to try one more time and to layer resin slowly, allowing it to fully cure for each layer. I also went out and bought a mold instead of trying to make my own.

I put down the first layer last night and will find something in the next few days (while it’s fully curing) to resin in between the layers.

Anyone else done this type of project before? Suggestions for good outcomes??

About shadedlinescreations

I have been interested in the arts for longer than I can remember. I can’t dance, I can’t sing….so that just left creating something tangible and aesthetically pleasing. Having a bachelor’s in graphic communications, I’ve worked as a graphic designer or creative director for the past 10 years. I have now decided to branch out and embrace 3D design…something in college I completely didn’t understand and hated going to the class! However, rather than covering chairs in crayons or fabricating statues out of cardboard, I have chosen to create items that can be used and treasured for years to come. Each tile, coaster or piece that you see in the gallery or on my etsy store has been customized, and can even feature your own personal images if you so desire. So look around, get some ideas and let me take them to the next level by actually making them for you!
