crab paperweight….

Well, it’s been a while since my last post. My mini vacation – 2 days at home…so really a staycation… was really productive!!

I got a lot of projects completed and started a few that I am still working on. I haven’t even put up all the finished projects in my Shaded Lines Etsy store yet! …..being back at the day job really uses a lot of my time!

I did get an object resined. I probably started on the worst thing to test on…. I came across a little crab that we found at the beach a few summers ago (already dead, so no worries about animal cruelty!)

It was a lot thicker than I probably should have started with, but I figured if I could make a block paper weight then coasters or trivets should be no big deal 🙂 Something I did not anticipate was that unless the resin is fully cured, layering it might cause cracks and other issues…so this would end up being a time consuming item since it take 3 days for resin to fully cure!

But the end product is looking good…even still in the mold 🙂

About shadedlinescreations

I have been interested in the arts for longer than I can remember. I can’t dance, I can’t sing….so that just left creating something tangible and aesthetically pleasing. Having a bachelor’s in graphic communications, I’ve worked as a graphic designer or creative director for the past 10 years. I have now decided to branch out and embrace 3D design…something in college I completely didn’t understand and hated going to the class! However, rather than covering chairs in crayons or fabricating statues out of cardboard, I have chosen to create items that can be used and treasured for years to come. Each tile, coaster or piece that you see in the gallery or on my etsy store has been customized, and can even feature your own personal images if you so desire. So look around, get some ideas and let me take them to the next level by actually making them for you!
